Shanghai Institute of Technology—a Cradle of engineers

Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT) is a full-time public university with over 60 years history. SIT owns two campuses – Xuhui downtown campus is located in city center of Shanghai，adjacent to Caohejing Hi-tech Park. Fengxian main campus is located in Fengxian Bay area. The two campuses cover an area of 1106870.2 square meters.

SIT is one of the top 100 demonstration University of Applied Sciences distinguished by its Perfume and Aroma Technology program in China. SIT is also one of the pilot universities included in the Chinese Ministry of Education(MOE) “Excellence Engineer Education Program” and one of the 15 pilot universities to deepen innovative, originality and entrepreneurship education (IOE education ) funded by Shanghai Municipal government. As one member of UAS alliance under the guidance of Chinese Ministry of Education, after 60 years of twists and turns, SIT has developed a mature application-oriented education system including 55 undergraduate programs with a focus on engineering and natural science areas, 8 thesis-based master’s degree programs and 11 discipline areas of professional master’s degree programs covering 8 major discipline complexes including engineering, science, management, economics, humanities, laws, agriculture and art. Approved by MOE, we are granted the authority to offer doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering and Technology in 2021.Among programs we offer, Perfume and Aroma Technology, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Applied Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation, Food Science and Engineering, Material Science and Engineering are the national Pilot Programs.

The total enrollment is around 16480 students. SIT has more than 1743 full-time teachers and high-quality research faculty. SIT has increased the percentage of industry experts and elites with overseas education background so as to equip cultivate talents with strong practical ability and international way of thinking.

SIT owns 7 National First-class Undergraduate Program Construction Sites approved in 2021(Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Perfume and Aroma Technology, Food Science and Engineering, Information Management and Information System  ,Marketing and Software Engineering)and 8 Provincial First-class Undergraduate Program Construction Sites approved in 2019(Chemical Engineering and Technology, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Civil Engineering , Mechanical Design Manufacturing & Automation, Food Science and Engineering , Perfume and Aroma Technology, Pharmaceutical Engineering and    Information Management and Information System). In 2020, SIT adds 4 newly approved Undergraduate Programs by the Ministry of Education including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics Engineering, Big Data Management and Application and Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering. Concerning doctorate degree education, SIT adds 2 new Doctor conferrable spots in Chemical Engineering and Technology and Materials and Chemical Engineering.

SIT has established extensive cooperation and exchange relationship in various forms, for instance, seeking International authentication for Engineering programs, developing Joint Double-degree Program, carrying out Joint Education, and conducting Student/staff Exchange Programs with about 130 overseas universities and research institutions in over 28countries and regions all over the world. To respond to the Belt and Road initiative, we cooperated with Souphanouvong University(SU) to cultivate the local railway technical talents in Laos.The SIT-SU Cooperative Program in Railway Engineering enrolled 25 Laos students (19 undergraduates and 6 graduates). The first batch of 10 students has graduated from this program. They are expected to the first batch of Laws staff serving the construction of China-Laos Railway. Based on this successful cooperation, we established the Belt and Road Lancang-Mekong Railway Connectivity Center this summer in 2021, which is funded by Shanghai Science and Technology Commission.SIT has also become an ideal choice for around 100 international students from 14 countries to study applied science in Shanghai.

2. REQUIREMENTS

（1）Chinese Language: HSK 4（210 points）above for undergraduates, HSK 5 （180 points）above or the undergraduate program was taught in Chinese for postgraduates.

（2）Age: Applicants for undergraduate programs shall be under the age of 25, while postgraduate applicants shall be under the age of 35 and 40 for master’s and doctorate programs respectively.
