On April 26, at the invitation of SIT, Prof. Balint Bachmann, Dean of Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology of the University of Pecs in Hungary, Mrs. Gyongyi Pozsgai, Director of International Relations office, Mrs. Reves Agota, Education Consul of Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai, visited SIT to discuss the cooperation issue. This is a return visit to Party Secretary Qi Xueyin’s visitation in December last year. The visit aimed to deepen the cooperation between the two parties. During the visit, Party Secretary Qi Xueyin met the delegation and VP YeYinzhong presided the meeting. Representatives from School of Urban Construction & Safety Engineering, School of Computer Science & Information Technology, School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and International Relations Office participated in the welcome reception.
Secretary Qi welcomed the visiting of Hungarian guests on behalf of SIT and expressed his gratitude to UP for its warm reception to SIT delegation last year. Secretary Qi said that UP paying the return visit within half a year fully demonstrated its sincere wish to strengthen the cooperation between both sides. The active participation of Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai reflected that Hungarian government paid attention to the development of two countries’ relations. The participation would lay a solid foundation for the cooperation of two higher education institutes. Two parties should actively seek the opportunities for cooperation and promote a comprehensive cooperation step by step. During the meeting, VP Ye mentioned that there were many common grounds in the field of discipline, including business, humanities, fine arts,engineering and technology information. We should actively discuss the development of student exchange programs, lecturer exchange programs and joint research projects. Education Consul of Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai also said that Hungarian government paid high attention to development of the beneficial cooperation among higher education institutes of two countries. Meanwhile, the dean sent the sincere regards of UP’s leaders to SIT and hoped that a memorandum of understanding could be signed as soon as possible so that the cooperation plan could be implemented smoothly. During the visitation, the delegation also visited School of Urban Construction & Safety Engineering and expressed its keen interest to start cooperation in the field of architecture at first. The delegation highly appreciated the stylish planning and construction of the campus, especially the central sculpture on turfed area, the library, the wooden viewing deck on the brook and the square of locomotive.
University of Pécs founded in 1367 as the first public University in Hungary; it is the second largest comprehensive university in the country at present. The present University of Pécs was created in January, 2000, via the merger of Janus Pannonius University, the Medical University of Pécs and the IllyésGyula Teacher Training College of Szekszárd.The university is composed by nine faculties; they are Faculty of Business and Economics, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Law, Medical School, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Music and Visual Arts, Faculty of IllyésGyula, Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. The university has an enrollment of 250,000 including 2000 overseas students, among which there are around 90 students come from China.
